Celebrating Rosario: A legacy of dedication and leadership

After more than 22 extraordinary years with Esperanza United (formerly Casa de Esperanza), our Director of Family Advocacy, Rosario de la Torre, closes a chapter full of achievements and dedication to open a new one in her life. Her last day with us, November 29, marks the culmination of decades of tireless advocacy, compassionate leadership, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting the Latin@ community.

For Rosario, her work “has never been transactional – it has been from the heart.” This philosophy of leading with empathy and passion has transformed lives and left an indelible mark on those privileged to work with her.

In the early days of their career, one team member recalls how Rosario provided a sense of confidence and security: “Her courage and firm yet empathetic nature stood out. Even during uncertain times, she managed to instill confidence in those around her, teaching us to face challenges with bravery and heart.”

Another reflection highlights her hands-on leadership and how she inspired others through example: “Rosario always showed us that if we want others to join our cause, we must be the first to take the step. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious and motivated everyone to engage with the same level of commitment.”

During the pandemic, when work dynamics changed drastically, her support became a beacon of hope for the team. “Despite the challenges, Rosario always found time to call and check in on us. Her genuine concern for our well-being reminded us that we were not alone.”

Rosario’s wisdom and strength have also been fundamental pillars of her leadership. One person describes how she provided a sense of security to those starting in the field of advocacy: “With Rosario, we learned that confidence and courage are essential to guiding others. Her leadership shaped us not only as individuals but also strengthened the entire team.”

Beyond her ability to lead, her dedication to fostering personal growth in others is one of her most admired qualities. “She always showed interest in our ideas and workshops, ensuring that our voices were heard. She deeply believed in our potential, and that confidence was incredibly inspiring.”

Rosario’s impact extends far beyond the organization. Her connection with the Latin@ community has left an unforgettable legacy. “Rosario has profoundly impacted the Minnesota community. Her legacy will be remembered for generations as an example of commitment and dedication.”

Finally, her role as an untiring advocate and generous mentor is difficult to put into words. Those who knew her agree that her presence is a source of inspiration and strength. “She is a pillar of our organization.
