Responding to vicarious trauma: Strategies to help Latin@s facing gender-based violence

This webinar aims to provide valuable guidance in responding to vicarious trauma as victim service providers who support Latin@ survivors of gender-based violence. We will explore what vicarious trauma is and related terms including vicarious resilience. Attendees will gain insight in how to address these experiences personally and learn how institutions can shape environments to not only respond but be preventative.

Trainer & Consultant at Collective Capacity LLC, Jessica Moreno, and Independent Contractor, Maria Limon will discuss the benefits of addressing stereotypes and myths about young people, strategies for strengthening intergenerational connections, and ways to support young leaders in their efforts to prevent gender-based violence.

Intergenerational conversations on sex and sexuality with Jessica Moreno and Paris Juarez

Join us tomorrow for a conversation on intergenerational discussions on sex and sexuality with Jessica Moreno of Collective Capacity Consulting, and Paris Juarez, a student activist. Moreno and Juarez will share strategies for having meaningful intergenerational conversations about sex and sexuality with Latinx youth. The session will include both youth and adult perspectives.

Plan de seguridad: Latin@s indocumentad@s sobrevivientes de violencia de género 

As part of our July training series, join us and Elizabeth Barcarcel, a community activist and legal assistant, on creating a security plan for undocumented Latin@ survivors of gender-based violence. In this session, Barcarcel will discuss the what, why, and how advocates can assist their undocumented clients in creating a proactive security plan that suits their needs as immigrants.

Mijas: Latin@s uniting to respond to their community

Join us for a conversation on the endless possibilities when Latin@s with similar visions come together. United by fate and an understanding of the barriers, we’re creating a dream team that offers a voice and access to the Latin@ community. This training is presented by Mijas, a group of Latina providers and activists, including Luz Aranda, Bilingual Sexual Assault Advocate/Outreach Marcela Flores, Bilingual Communications Specialist, Claudia Lopez, Community Liaison Aracely Rubio, Membership Director, Stephen Franklin, Recreation Supervisor of Special Events.

Join us for a conversation with Ivonne Ortiz, Vice president of programs, prevention, and social change at the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV). Ivonne will share her leadership trajectory within the gender-based violence movement.
