Special Announcement: We are now “Esperanza United”

It’s long been who we are but now it’s also what we’re called. As of today, Casa de Esperanza and our National Latin@ Network for Healthy Families and Communities (NLN) has a new name that better embodies our vision, mission, and approach – Esperanza United.

Nearly forty years ago, a group of persevering Latinas gathered in St. Paul, MN, to advocate for Latinas experiencing domestic violence. They incorporated as a nonprofit in 1982, opening a shelter and later, a 24/7 bilingual hotline. Since then, we’ve grown into the largest national organization mobilizing Latin@s to end gender-based violence.

We root our work in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, offering a range of critical services in Minnesota from enhancing safety for Latin@ survivors of gender-based violence to strengthening youth leadership, and ground everything we do in the lived realities, hopes, and dreams of Latin@ communities.

Esperanza United brings together our Minnesota-based services and the NLN into one cohesive, comprehensive organization. We are proud of our new brand and what it embodies. We are beyond excited to make our work more accessible to Latinas, their families, and communities, and we are committed to working together to end gender-based violence!

Esperanza United recognizes that it is the community’s power and action that will end gender-based violence, not any system or organization, so we focus on building Latin@ community members’ capacity in this work. Thank you for your continued support and for joining us in hope united.
