Esperanza United incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1982 under the name \u201cCasa de Esperanza\u201d and opened a shelter. The grant designates the organization as a National Culturally Specific Special Issue Resource Center whose focus is working within Latin@ communities. As a national resource center, Esperanza United is a member of a nationwide network that supports prevention and intervention efforts across the country to end domestic and dating violence.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li id=\"3097\" class=\"timeline-inverted\">\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-badge\">2012<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"timeline-body history-text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t  <p><p>Launched Fuerza Unida (United in Strength) Amig@s, building on our previous leadership development training for Latina women and girls. The Amig@s Initiative provides leadership training and awareness on gender-based violence for Latin@ adults and youth, who in turn, become first responders and develop action projects which benefit the well-being of their communities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li id=\"3098\" class=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-badge\">2015<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"timeline-body history-text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t  <p><p>In partnership with the highly successful NO MORE campaign, Esperanza United created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.decimosnomas.org\/en\/\">Decimos NO M\u00c1S<\/a>, culturally adapting the campaign for the Latin@ community. Based on research conducted the previous year, Decimos NO M\u00c1S supports Latin@ parents in engaging in meaningful conversations about healthy relationships and sexuality with their children.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li id=\"3099\" class=\"timeline-inverted\">\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-badge\">2017<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"timeline-body history-text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t  <p><p>Hired our first Men and Boys Engagement Coordinator to provide key support for Latino men and boys, including the facilitation of masculinity circles, which provide the opportunity to explore culture\/identity, challenge gender norms\/male privilege, and foster healthy masculinity in safe community spaces.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li id=\"3100\" class=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-badge\">2019<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"timeline-panel\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"timeline-body history-text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t  <p><p><span data-teams=\"true\">We received the <strong>\u201cMission Advocacy Award\u201d <\/strong>from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, recognizing our Latina-based advocacy approach as unique and offering an unmatched spectrum of direct services and support for Latina families experiencing
