Boletin: Safeguarding immigrant survivors

This document serves as an educational tool for policymakers, shedding light on the existing gaps in safeguarding immigrant communities and their adverse impacts on survivors of gender-based violence. While many assume that the solutions lie within the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), this is not the case. Policymakers need to grasp the extent of the challenges, including the total cumulative number of VAWA, T, and U visa applications pending before United States Citizen and Immigration Services
(USCIS) yet to be adjudicated and the length of time each case has been pending.
