Medical providers play a crucial role in the prevention and intervention of intimate partner violence (IPV) experienced by patients. Violence is a social determinant of health, affecting the health outcomes of survivors, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic (California Department of Public Health, 2020 and National Domestic Violence Hotline, 2020).
