Uniting prevention and advocacy with intention webinar

As service providers, it’s essential to reflect on how we show up for survivors and communities – not just in our words, but in our actions, strategies, and connections. This presentation, Crossing the bridge: Uniting prevention and advocacy with intention, calls us to examine the divide that often exists between prevention and advocacy work in the movement to end sexual violence. Join Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence CEO Rosa Beltré on June 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. CT / 12:00 p.m. MT / 11:00 a.m. PT.

Too often, we operate in silos – advocates focused on urgent survivor needs and preventionists working on long-term cultural change. But in this critical time – amid national challenges, movement fatigue, and systemic oppression – there is a deep need to intentionally bridge these areas, ensuring we create comprehensive, sustainable support and transformation for individuals and communities.

As a long-time advocate, organizational leader, and servant leader, Rosa Beltré will share personal insights, practical tools, and spiritual grounding to help us ask the hard questions:

  • What does it look like to truly integrate prevention and advocacy in our work?
  • How can we honor the urgency of survivors while building a future where violence is no longer normalized?
  • What role does intentionality play in uniting our strategies, language, and partnerships?

Key takeaways

  1. A framework for understanding the historical and current divide between prevention and advocacy – and how it impacts survivors and systems
  2. Tools for fostering intentional collaboration across teams and strategies
  3. Real-life examples of integrated approaches that uplift culture, community, and survivor-centered work
  4. A call to reimagine our roles as bridge-builders, guided by cultural humility, compassion, and purpose

Why it matters now

This is a time that demands more from us – not just in effort, but in intention as well. As professionals serving Latin@ communities, many of us carry multiple roles and responsibilities, often within underfunded systems. Crossing the bridge between prevention and advocacy is not only strategic – it’s healing, restorative, and deeply necessary for the communities we love and serve.

This session will speak to both the heart and the practice of our work, offering space for reflection, connection, and vision-setting.

Format

45–60 minutes, including a presentation, real-life scenarios, and space for interactive reflection and discussion
