Esperanza United Served on the Host Committee for the Historic 39th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards 

Esperanza United was honored to serve on the Minnesota Host Committee for this year’s Hispanic Heritage Awards, a historic moment as the ceremony left Washington, D.C. for the first time in its 39-year history, coming instead to Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.

This year’s Humanitarian Award recognized the people of Minnesota and the Twin Cities for the courage, unity, and compassion they showed in the face of crisis, during the federal immigration enforcement surge that tested and ultimately strengthened our community. It was a tribute to the everyday people who stood up for one another when it mattered most.

For Esperanza United, being part of this moment reflected everything we’ve long stood for. Our roots are here, in this community, and in the work of protecting and uplifting Latinas and their families. Serving on the Host Committee was one more way we showed up for that mission — helping bring a national spotlight to the resilience we see in our community every day, and reaffirming our commitment to lead from where we are planted.

We’re grateful to have played a part in honoring our neighbors, and we remain as committed as ever to the work ahead.
