Enhance an existing plan

Critical conversations to improve language access

This is a process for having critical conversations within your organization in order to develop or enhance your Language Access Plan. This process will help you:

  • articulate your purpose in providing meaningful access to services for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) and


  • define immediate and long-term strategies for enhancing language access in ways that fit best with your organizational and community realities.

We recommend that you begin this process by assembling a small team of individuals that represent different areas of your organization (administrative, leadership, direct services, etc.). This team will come together three times for sessions that last 1-3 hours depending on how many updates to your existing language access plan are needed. 

The decisions and recommendations that you develop throughout this process may be recorded in the Language access plan template provided.
